The 24th Solar Terms of ‘Guyu’– Preserve Health with TCM

Gu Yu (Grain Rain) is the 6th oen of the 24 solar terms which is between Qingming and Lixia. It stars on April 20 this year.

 

Change of climate 

 

As the name implies, Gu Yu means that the increase in rainwater may help the growth of various cereal crops, during which the first rainfall comes annually. As the last term in Spring,the temperature rise quickly, and the increasing rains and rising temperature see the arrival of summer after Gu Yu.

 

Influence of constitution

 

As the increased rainfall and moisture,wet phenomenon occurs such as muscle and joint pain, body edema, gastrointestinal discomfort,and indigestion.In addition, when the spring and summer are alternate, the body’s yang rises with the climate of nature, which easily produce various internal heat conditions, such as discomfort of ear, eyes and throat, and even inflammation and swelling of the gum.

Furthermore, it need to eat light food rather than too spicy or hot-fried one to prevent internal heat, such as fried chicken, lamb, and spicy hot pot.
