What causes irregular menstrual cycles?
Deviations in the stages mentioned above can lead to menstrual irregularities, such as scanty or excessive flow, painful periods, or the development of cysts and fibroids. Causes of abnormal menstrual cycles include:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding– A missed period can be an early sign of pregnancy. Breastfeeding typically delays the return of menstruation postpartum.
