“Depression is like a Trojan Virus installed in your mind.” Depression is a common and often serious medical illness that negatively impacts the way you feel and act. It is characterized by a persistent feeling of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed; you may continuously feel like you are caught up in a rigmarole of negative feelings and are unable to come out of it. So, what causes depression? Is there a natural treatment of depression? And can Acupuncture fit the bill of a natural treatment for depression?
Depression is a real illness that impacts the brain. Depression is a serious illness caused by changes in brain chemistry. Research tells us that other factors contribute to the onset of depression, including genetics, changes in hormone levels, certain medical conditions, stress, grief or difficult life circumstances. Any of these factors alone or in combination can precipitate changes in brain chemistry that lead to depression’s many symptoms.
The World Health Organization (WHO) characterizes depression as one of the most disabling disorders in the world, affecting roughly one in five women and one in ten men at some point in their lifetime.

Changes in sleep: sleeping too little or too much.
Sexual problems: including loss of interest in sexual activity.
There are several strategies for treating depression:
