Baihui

The acupoint Baihui (GV20) is the most commonly used point in the TCM treatment of moxibustion, scraping, and acupuncture. It is longevity acupoint which is called one of the four gates of life together with the Yongquan(K1),Mingmen(DU-4), and Shenque(CV8).   • Headache

We have a patient who has suffered from headaches since childhood and the conditions get worse accompanying with symptom of fearing cold during winter. When he came to our clinic, he was diagnosed of a headache of kidney-yang deficiency type. Our physician gave him massage on Baihui and Zusanli acupoints. After 7-8 minutes, his headache was relieved. The patient insisted on massaging these 2 acupoints after returning. During the follow-up consultation, he said that his headache was gone, and he was not as afraid of cold. How to find out the Baihui acupoint

It means there is tiny sunken at the acupoint. It is not difficult to find it out.

 

  • Fold the ears in half forward, and take the midpoint of the line connecting the highest points of the two ears, that is, the intersection of the front and rear midlines.
  • Insert the thumb into the ear hole, straighten the middle fingers of both hands towards the top of the head, then embrace the top of the head, press the head with the two fingers, and the point where the tips of the two middle fingers touch.

4 ways to operate Baihui acupoint

 

  • Massage

It should massage the Baihui acupoint back and forth with the palm of the hand until it get warm, 50 circles clockwise and counterclockwise each time, 2-3 times a day. It can clear the meridians and improve the yang qi of the Governor meridian. For people with high-blood pressure, it can stabilize blood pressure when insisting on it every day.

 

  • Percussion

It should gently tap the Baihui acupoint with the right hollow palm, 10 times each time. It can keep you in a good mood, relieving grief and concerns. It also can activate blood and dredge collaterals, and relieve the symptom on the headache caused by exogenous wind-cold, poor rest or insomnia.

 

  • Press

It should use the middle finger or index finger to the Baihui point, press 3-5 times from light to heavy, and then rotate and knead 30-50 times to the left and right. If you are weak constitution or suffering from visceral sagging, prolapse of the anus, etc., the movements should be lighter at the beginning, and then gradually increase, and the number of massages can be increased accordingly.

 

  • Moxibustion

Generally, it is recommended to use portable moxibustion or hold moxa sticks for 10 minutes. It can prevent dizziness, headache, insomnia, lack of yang, neurasthenia and other diseases. , It has the effect of health care and longevity if you insist on daily.
